Using Trail Scout Offline

No cell service? No problem. Here's how to use Trail Scout on the trail.

1

Install the App

iPhone: Open Trail Scout in Safari → tap the Share button (box with arrow) → tap "Add to Home Screen"

Android: Open in Chrome → tap the menu (three dots) → tap "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen"

This installs Trail Scout as a standalone app that works offline.

2

Plan Your Route

Open the map, draw or click your route while you have service. The map tiles you view get automatically cached.

Pro tip: zoom in and scroll around your planned area to pre-load the tiles.

3

Save for Offline PRO

Click "Save for Offline" in the route panel. This downloads map tiles for your route area so they work without internet.

Tile caching typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on area size.

4

Hit the Trail

Your saved routes and cached map tiles work without cell service. Your GPS location updates in real-time — the blue dot follows you.
